& Caravaning Expo 2026 Opens with Nearly 100 Exhibitors

The Camping & Caravaning Expo 2026 commenced Friday and will continue through Sunday at the former Sofia Land park area. Organized by Camping.BG, this forum marks the 12th consecutive year of the event, first held in 2018. This year, 99 exhibitors representing Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, and Germany are participating, with expectations of attracting over 12,000 visitors.

The expo showcases the latest trends in recreational vehicles, including campers, caravans, and camping gear, alongside water sports and cycling products. According to Camping.BG founder Veselin Valev, interest in camping tourism in Bulgaria is increasing. He noted that equipment costs vary widely, ranging from approximately EUR 100 up to EUR 100,000 for campers.

Valev differentiated between campervans, suitable for travel and short stops, and caravans, which are better suited for extended stays in one location. Organizers advised newcomers to begin at regulated campgrounds, which offer amenities like showers and toilets, rather than attempting wild camping. While Bulgaria has over 200 campsites, Valev pointed out that improving infrastructure, particularly quality roads leading to sites and attractions, is crucial for the sector’s development.

The expo features a diverse program, including expert presentations, workshops on topics like converting vans into campervans, and dedicated areas for children. The final day focuses on responsible camping, in partnership with the For the Earth environmental association, offering educational activities promoting sustainable travel. Visitors can engage with various exhibitors to gain practical knowledge about the lifestyle associated with caravaning.
