Minister Gurov Commemorates April Uprising Anniversary

Caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gurov addressed the 150th anniversary of the April Uprising on Monday, stating that freedom is now defined not by capability, but by choice. Gurov recalled that the revolutionaries of 150 years prior rose up to ensure that all Bulgarians possessed the right to self-determination—a right, he noted, that Bulgarians exercised recently. The Prime Minister emphasized that freedom is not a singular event but an ongoing state of awareness.

He stated that it is essential for citizens to remain vigilant, engage in critical thought, and speak out when the defense of freedom is necessary. In a post dedicated as a tribute to the heroes of the April Uprising, Gurov shared a video clip. This clip featured Gurov reciting a letter originally written by the Bulgarian revolutionary and poet Hristo Botev to Ivan Grudov, Ivan Kavaldzhiev, and Georgi Stranski.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister underscored the continuous nature of civic duty. For Gurov, the spirit of the April Uprising represents an enduring commitment to liberty. His remarks highlighted that the struggle for freedom requires perpetual vigilance and active participation from the citizenry to safeguard national rights.
