Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova is continuing her visit to Armenia for the Eighth Summit of the European Political Community, commencing in Yerevan on Monday. The President’s press secretariat confirmed her participation in a high-level event addressing the impact of the Vertical Gas Corridor on regional energy security. This strategic initiative seeks to bolster energy security and diversify natural gas supplies throughout Southeastern, Eastern, and Central Europe.
During the forum, President Iotova is scheduled to address the critical role of transport and energy connectivity across Europe. Her schedule also includes participation in an event titled “European Coalition Against Drugs.” On the sidelines of the Summit, she is slated to meet with Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas. The Summit is jointly chaired by European Council President Antonio Costa and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Previously, on Sunday, President Iotova and Pashinyan signed a Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership between Bulgaria and Armenia. Furthermore, President Iotova visited the Peyo Yavorov Primary School in Yerevan, named after the Bulgarian poet. During her discussions with Armenian counterpart Vahagn Khachaturyan, the Bulgarian president emphasized strengthening bilateral cooperation.
President Iotova underscored the significance of the European Political Community in enhancing connectivity and advancing relations throughout Europe, particularly concerning energy infrastructure like the gas corridor.
