Two of President Iotova’s Armenia Visit for European Political Community Summit

Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova continues her official visit to Armenia in connection with the Eighth Summit of the European Political Community, which commenced in Yerevan on Monday. As part of her schedule, President Iotova is slated to participate in a high-level forum addressing the impact of the Vertical Gas Corridor on regional energy security. This strategic initiative aims to enhance and diversify natural gas supplies across Southeastern, Eastern, and Central Europe.

During her address at the forum, President Iotova is expected to focus her remarks on the critical role of transport and energy connectivity throughout Europe. The Summit, which is co-chaired by European Council President Antonio Costa and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, also includes an event titled the “European Coalition Against Drugs.” On the sidelines of the main forum, President Iotova is scheduled to meet with Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas. The diplomatic engagements have been ongoing, as yesterday, President Iotova and Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan signed a Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership between Bulgaria and Armenia.

During their discussions, President Iotova emphasized the value of the European Political Community in strengthening connectivity and bilateral relations. Furthermore, she visited the Peyo Yavorov Primary School in Yerevan. The itinerary underscores a concerted effort to deepen cooperation between Bulgaria and Armenia, while simultaneously addressing broader European challenges, including energy infrastructure related to the gas corridor.
