Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova is continuing her visit to Armenia to participate in the Eighth Summit of the European Political Community, which convened in Yerevan on Monday. A central focus of President Iotova’s participation will be a high-level event examining the impact of the Vertical Gas Corridor on regional energy security. This strategic initiative is designed to bolster energy security and diversify natural gas supplies across Southeastern, Eastern, and Central Europe.
During her address at the forum, Iotova is scheduled to emphasize the importance of transport and energy connectivity throughout Europe. In addition to the main summit proceedings, the president will also attend an event titled “European Coalition Against Drugs.” On the sidelines, she is set to meet with Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas. The Summit is being co-chaired by European Council President Antonio Costa and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
The visit has been marked by significant bilateral engagement. On Sunday, President Iotova and Armenian counterpart Vahagn Khachaturyan signed a Joint Declaration establishing a Strategic Partnership between Bulgaria and Armenia. Furthermore, President Iotova and her counterpart discussed avenues to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
During this time, she also visited the Peyo Yavorov Primary School in Yerevan. President Iotova highlighted the critical role of the European Political Community in enhancing connectivity and fostering broader European relations.
