Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova is continuing her visit to Armenia for the Eighth Summit of the European Political Community, commencing in Yerevan on Monday, according to the President’s press secretariat. During the summit, President Iotova is scheduled to participate in a high-level discussion concerning the impact of the Vertical Gas Corridor on regional energy security. This strategic initiative is designed to enhance energy security and diversify natural gas supplies across Southeastern, Eastern, and Central Europe.
At the forum, President Iotova intends to focus her address on improving transport and energy connectivity throughout Europe. Her schedule also includes participation in an event titled “European Coalition Against Drugs.” On the sidelines of the main summit proceedings, she is set to meet with Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas. The Summit is co-chaired by European Council President Antonio Costa and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Prior to the main event, President Iotova and PM Pashinyan formalized their relationship by signing a Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership on Sunday. Furthermore, President Iotova visited the Peyo Yavorov Primary School in Yerevan. During bilateral talks with her Armenian counterpart, Vahagn Khachaturyan, the two leaders discussed methods to strengthen cooperation between Bulgaria and Armenia.
President Iotova reiterated the significance of the European Political Community in fostering connectivity and deepening ties across the continent.
