Forces Convoys to Move Across National Road and Rail Network After Exercises

Servicemen and military equipment belonging to Land Forces units are scheduled to travel across Bulgaria’s infrastructure between April 28 and 30, 2026. This movement follows the completion of planned military exercises, according to the Defence Ministry press centre. On April 28 and 29, personnel and military assets will be transported from the Koren Training Area in Southern Bulgaria.

These units are returning after participating in the tactical drill known as Defensive Shield 26, conducted by the 5th Brigade Command. The movement will utilize both the road and rail infrastructure, with destinations including Pleven, Shumen, and Sliven. The final leg of the transit occurs on April 30.

On this day, military convoys carrying personnel and equipment will travel along the national road network originating from the Novo Selo Training Area in Southeastern Bulgaria, concluding field training exercises. Throughout these three days, the movement of forces will be managed by established logistical routes. The convoys are scheduled to be escorted by the Military Police Service to ensure the security of the assets and personnel.

The planned transportation highlights the coordinated movement capabilities of the armed forces across the country’s key transport corridors.
