President, Armenian PM Sign Strategic Partnership Declaration

Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership in Yerevan on Sunday, according to the President’s press secretariat. The leaders expressed optimism that the new administration in Bulgaria would enhance bilateral cooperation with Armenia. During the meeting, both officials emphasized the robust political dialogue existing between the two nations and noted significant untapped potential for developing their relationship across multiple sectors.

They specifically committed to strengthening ties in the economic, energy, security, and defense fields. The discussions reaffirmed the historically positive relationship between the Bulgarian and Armenian peoples. Prime Minister Pashinyan acknowledged President Iotova’s support for the preservation and development of the Armenian community’s culture within Bulgaria.

In response, President Iotova offered Bulgaria’s experience, gained over 19 years as an EU member, to assist Armenia’s path toward closer integration with the Union. Discussions also addressed the implications of ongoing military conflicts in Ukraine and Iran. The visit concluded with the announcement that the President will attend the 8th European Political Community Summit in Yerevan on Monday.

This forum is expected to gather nearly 50 heads of state and government under the theme, “Building the Future: Unity and Stability in Europe.” The signing of the strategic declaration underscores the mutual commitment to advancing cooperation between the two countries.
