Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova is continuing her visit to Armenia for the Eighth Summit of the European Political Community, which commenced in Yerevan on Monday. During her participation, President Iotova is expected to address a high-level forum concerning the impact of the Vertical Gas Corridor on regional energy security. This corridor represents a strategic European initiative designed to enhance energy security and diversify natural gas supplies across Southeastern, Eastern, and Central Europe.
In her address at the forum, Iotova will concentrate on themes of transport and energy connectivity across the continent. Her schedule also includes participation in the “European Coalition Against Drugs” event. On the sidelines of the Summit, she is set to meet with Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas.
The Summit is co-chaired by European Council President Antonio Costa and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Earlier on Sunday, President Iotova and PM Pashinyan formalized their ties by signing a Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership between Bulgaria and Armenia. Furthermore, Iotova visited the Peyo Yavorov Primary School in Yerevan.
During bilateral discussions with her Armenian counterpart, Vahagn Khachaturyan, the two leaders explored avenues to deepen cooperation. President Iotova emphasized the critical role the European Political Community plays in improving connectivity and fostering robust relationships throughout Europe.
