Election Commission Announces Seat Distribution in 52nd National Assembly

The Central Election Commission (CEC) announced the preliminary allocation of parliamentary seats to various parties and coalitions for the 52nd National Assembly on Thursday. According to CEC Chair Kamelia Neykova, the Progressive Bulgaria coalition secured a majority with 131 Members of Parliament, representing 54.58% of the total 240 seats available. Neykova also provided figures regarding the electorate, stating that the total number of voters who participated in the April 19 elections was 3,360,330.

The CEC is scheduled to release the complete and final roster of members comprising the 52nd National Assembly this Saturday. The announcement marks a key procedural step following the recent general elections, providing a preliminary overview of the legislative composition. While the final list of representatives is pending, the allocation details suggest the political standing of the major participating groups.

The election process, overseen by the CEC, involves confirming the mandates received by all registered political entities. This initial distribution helps establish the political landscape within the national legislature. Voters are advised that the final composition of the assembly will be formally published by the commission later this week.
