Will Be Constructive, Responsible Opposition

Addressing the inaugural sitting of the 52nd National Assembly, Ayten Sabri MP of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) stated that the party intends to function as a constructive and responsible opposition. She affirmed that the MRF will support any policy deemed beneficial to the rights and interests of Bulgarian citizens and the State. However, she cautioned that the party will also serve as a consistent corrective force whenever deviations occur regarding good governance, transparency, legality, or the principles of democracy and human rights.

Sabri emphasized that in the current volatile domestic and international climate, Bulgaria requires a clear and sustainable policy direction. She outlined several key priorities for the nation, including enhancing the quality of life and standard of living, achieving economic stability and growth, modernizing both the economy and agricultural production, ensuring food safety, and mitigating social and regional disparities. Furthermore, she highlighted the importance of supporting young families, preserving national traditions, solidifying Bulgaria’s role as an effective EU Member State, and maintaining constructive partnerships with the US and the Euro-Atlantic community.

The MP stated that the MRF’s actions will be guided by the principle of upholding the liberty, justice, and equality of every citizen. She urged the assembly to move beyond confrontation, asserting that democracy is a continuous process founded on citizen trust and the rule of law. Sabri concluded by appealing for the Parliament to set an example of political maturity, urging members to build consensus on key national issues rather than fostering division.
