Election Commission: With 78.24% of Tally Sheets Processed, Progressive Bulgaria Leads with 44.5%, Second Is CC-DB with 13.7%

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has released preliminary results stemming from the parliamentary elections conducted on April 19. The initial figures are based on the processing of 78.24% of the available tally sheets, compiled by section election commissions and subsequently aggregated at the constituency election commission level as of 8:00 am on Monday. The announcement of these preliminary findings is part of the formal electoral process.

Under the established Election Code, the CEC is legally mandated to declare the total votes received and the subsequent distribution of seats among various political parties and coalitions no later than four days following the election day. Furthermore, the names of all elected Members of Parliament must be officially published within a seven-day period after the polls closed. These proceedings mark the eighth parliamentary election held in Bulgaria since 2021.

The systematic processing of the tally sheets by the various local and regional commissions is crucial to establishing the final electoral mandate. The CEC’s adherence to these strict timelines governs the transition from the voting process to the formal constitution of the new legislative body. Stakeholders and political observers are monitoring the progress of the tallying process as the commission works to finalize the data required to certify the outcome of the recent election.
