Election Commission: Based on 96.41% of Tally Sheets, Progressive Bulgaria Leads with 44.7%, GERB-UDF Second with 13.4%

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has released preliminary findings regarding the parliamentary election held on April 19. These initial results are based on the processing of 96.41% of the tally sheets collected by section and constituency election commissions, as reported at 11:00 am on Monday. The preliminary data indicates which political parties and coalitions have successfully met the 4% electoral threshold required for representation.

The CEC operates under specific mandates detailed within the Election Code. According to this code, the commission is obligated to announce the precise vote counts and the resulting distribution of seats among all participating parties and coalitions no later than four days following the election date. Furthermore, the names of the elected Members of Parliament must be officially published within a seven-day period after the vote.

These proceedings marked the eighth parliamentary election in Bulgaria since 2021. The ongoing work of the various commissions is crucial to finalizing the electoral process. While the preliminary figures provide an early assessment of the political landscape, the CEC must adhere strictly to the stipulated timelines to ensure the finalization of the legislative body.

The continuous processing of tally sheets by the various election commissions is central to establishing the definitive outcome of the election.
