Election Commission Announces Seat Distribution in 52nd National Assembly

The Central Election Commission (CEC) formally announced the allocation of parliamentary seats among political parties and coalitions for the 52nd National Assembly on Thursday. According to CEC Chair Kamelia Neykova, the Progressive Bulgaria coalition secured a clear majority, earning 131 seats, which represents 54.58% of the 240 available positions. Neykova also provided figures regarding the electoral participation, reporting that the total number of voters who cast ballots during the April 19 elections reached 3,360,330.

In the process of finalizing the composition of the national legislature, several adjustments were noted. A total of 21 candidates initially nominated for the 52nd National Assembly have since declined to serve. Furthermore, list modifications were processed, including requests for removal submitted by nineteen individuals from the MRF’s candidate lists, alongside single requests for removal from Progressive Bulgaria and GERB-UDF.

The CEC is scheduled to publish the definitive and comprehensive list of all members of the 52nd National Assembly by Saturday. These announcements confirm the preliminary distribution of power following the recent national elections.
