The Veselyatsite folk fitness group from Madrid will join the Severnyatsi folk dance formation from Segovia, Spain, at the eleventh edition of the traveling gathering, “Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Hands.” This event is scheduled to take place from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich, Germany. Mariyana Topalska, leader of the Veselyatsite group, explained that their performance is based on a narrative depicting an elderly couple recalling their youth and romance while awaiting a wedding ceremony for their daughter. Topalska stated that the performance aims to convey the message that life is transient, emphasizing that love is the eternal constant.
She stressed that without love, warmth, and companionship, other aspects of life lose value. The Severnyatsi dance formation, led by Galya Marinova and established in 2015, will participate alongside the Veselyatsite group. Topalska noted that this joint participation allows the two ensembles to unite their efforts and present Bulgarian culture to an international audience.
The choreography was developed through the collaborative work of dancers from both groups and the former leader of Severnyatsi, Antoniy Angelov. The festival, “Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance,” supports amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative originated with the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted the first edition in 2015 and the tenth in 2025.
The upcoming Munich event anticipates participation from over 100 dance ensembles and an attendance of more than 4,000 guests. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) serves as the official media partner for the event.
