The Veselyatsite folk fitness group from Madrid will perform alongside the Severnyatsi folk dance formation from Segovia, Spain, at the eleventh edition of the “Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Hands” gathering. This event is scheduled to take place from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich, Germany. Mariyana Topalska, leader of the Veselyatsite group, explained that their performance portrays an elderly couple reminiscing about their own youth and romance while awaiting a wedding celebration for their daughter.
Topalska stated, “The message we want to send to the audience is that everything in this life is transient and the only thing that is eternal is love.” She emphasized the importance of companionship and shared memories. The Severnyatsi dance formation, led by Galya Marinova and established in 2015, will participate in the joint effort. Topalska noted that this collaboration provides a chance to unite the two ensembles and showcase Bulgarian culture to an international audience.
The choreography was developed through the combined efforts of the dancers from both groups and the former leader of Severnyatsi, Antoniy Angelov. The festival, “Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance,” is organized for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside Bulgaria. The initiative was pioneered by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the first edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025.
The upcoming Munich event is anticipated to host over 100 dance ensembles and more than 4,000 guests. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is the official media partner for the event.
