Folk Group from Madrid to Perform Together with Severnyatsi Folk Dance Formation from Segovia in Munich

The Veselyatsite folk fitness group from Madrid will join forces with the Severnyatsi folk dance formation from Segovia, Spain, at the eleventh annual “Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Hands” gathering. This event is scheduled to take place at BMW Park in Munich, Germany, from May 15 to 17. Mariyana Topalska, leader of the Veselyatsite group, explained that the performance prepared for the festival recreates the narrative of an elderly couple.

The story centers on the couple recalling their own youth and romance while awaiting a wedding ceremony for their daughter. Topalska emphasized the core message of their performance: that while life is transient, love is eternal. She stated that without love, warmth, and companionship, other aspects of life lose value.

The Severnyatsi formation, led by Galya Marinova and established in 2015, will participate alongside the Veselyatsite group. Topalska viewed this joint effort as a chance to unite the talents of both ensembles and showcase Bulgarian culture to an international audience. The choreography resulted from a collaborative effort involving dancers from both groups and Antoniy Angelov, the former leader of Severnyatsi.

The festival, which features amateur folklore ensembles performing outside Bulgaria, was initiated by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France. The 11th edition in Munich is anticipated to host over 100 dance ensembles and more than 4,000 attendees. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is the official media partner for the event.
