Folk Group from Madrid to Perform Together with Severnyatsi Folk Dance Formation from Segovia in Munich

The Veselyatsite folk fitness group, hailing from Madrid, will participate alongside the Severnyatsi folk dance formation from Segovia, Spain, at the eleventh annual gathering, “Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Hands.” This event is scheduled to take place at BMW Park in Munich, Germany, from May 15 to 17. Mariyana Topalska, leader of the Veselyatsite group, explained that their performance depicts an elderly couple who revisit memories of their youth and romance while anticipating a wedding. According to Topalska, the piece conveys the message that while life’s elements are transient, love remains eternal, emphasizing the importance of companionship.

The Severnyatsi formation, which was established in 2015 and is led by Galya Marinova, is participating in this joint effort. Topalska stated that the collaboration serves to unite the two ensembles and showcase Bulgarian culture to an international audience. The choreography itself is the product of joint effort among dancers from both groups, along with Antoniy Angelov, the former leader of Severnyatsi.

The festival, organized for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside Bulgaria, was initially launched by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France. For this 11th edition in Munich, organizers anticipate participation from over 100 dance ensembles and an attendance of more than 4,000 guests. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is serving as the official media partner for the event.
