Election Commission: Based on 96.41% of Tally Sheets, Progressive Bulgaria Leads with 44.7%, GERB-UDF Second with 13.4%

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has released preliminary results from the parliamentary elections conducted on April 19. These initial figures are based on the processing of 96.41% of tally sheets from the section election commissions, as reported to the constituency election commissions at 11 am on Monday. According to the preliminary data, several parties and coalitions have crossed the mandatory 4% electoral threshold.

The CEC operates under the Election Code, which mandates specific timelines for the finalization of election results. Specifically, the commission must announce the total votes received and the allocation of seats among parties and coalitions no later than four days following the election day. Furthermore, the names of the elected Members of Parliament are required to be announced within seven days after the election.

These elections represent the eighth parliamentary election in Bulgaria since 2021. The preliminary announcement from the commission provides an initial assessment of the vote distribution. The process involves aggregating data from various levels of the election commission structure to determine the final composition of the legislature.

The public dissemination of these results is crucial for understanding the outcome of the recent election.
