The Veselyatsite folk fitness group from Madrid will collaborate with the Severnyatsi folk dance formation from Segovia, Spain, at the eleventh edition of the traveling gathering, “Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Hands.” This event is scheduled to take place from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich, Germany. Mariyana Topalska, leader of the Veselyatsite group, stated that their performance will depict the memories of an elderly couple anticipating their daughter’s wedding. The routine portrays the couple reminiscing about their own youth and romance while awaiting the arrival of matchmakers.
Topalska emphasized the core message of the performance: that while life’s elements are fleeting, love is eternal. She asserted that without love, warmth, and companionship, other aspects of life lose value. The Severnyatsi dance formation, led by Galya Marinova and established in 2015, will participate alongside the Veselyatsite group.
Topalska highlighted this joint participation as a chance to unite the efforts of both ensembles and showcase Bulgarian culture to an international audience. The choreography was developed through the joint efforts of dancers from both groups and Antoniy Angelov, the former leader of Severnyatsi. The festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance, is organized for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside Bulgaria.
The initiative was started by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the first edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. The 11th edition in Munich is anticipated to host over 100 dance ensembles and more than 4,000 attendees. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) serves as the official media partner for the event.
