& Caravaning Expo 2026 Opens with Nearly 100 Exhibitors

The Camping & Caravaning Expo 2026 commenced on Friday and runs through Sunday at the former Sofia Land park area. Organized by Camping.BG, this event marks the 12th consecutive year, having begun in 2018. This year, 99 exhibitors from Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, and Germany are participating, with expectations of attracting over 12,000 visitors.

The expo showcases the latest trends in recreational vehicles, campers, caravans, and outdoor activities, including camping gear, water sports, and cycling products. According to Veselin Valev, founder of Camping.BG, interest in camping tourism in Bulgaria is increasing. He noted that equipment costs vary significantly, ranging from approximately EUR 100 to EUR 100,000 for campers, with some models reaching much higher values.

Valev suggested that trailers offer a budget-friendly alternative to campers, while the choice between a camper and a caravan depends on the desired trip style—campers are suitable for varied travel, whereas caravans are better for extended stays in one location. The organizers advise beginners to utilize regulated campgrounds, which provide amenities like showers and toilets, over wild camping. Bulgaria currently has over 200 campsites, with higher service levels noted in inland locations.

Furthermore, the expo provides educational sessions on topics such as converting vans into campervans and responsible travel, aligning with the year’s focus. Infrastructure, including quality roads, remains a key challenge for the sector’s development. The event features a diverse program, including children’s activities and presentations on sustainable travel practices, ensuring a comprehensive experience for all attendees at the caravaning expo.
