& Caravaning Expo 2026 Opens with Nearly 100 Exhibitors

The Camping & Caravaning Expo 2026 commenced on Friday and will continue through Sunday at the former Sofia Land park area. Organized by Camping.BG, this forum marks the 12th annual event, having begun in 2018. This year, 99 exhibitors from Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, and Germany are participating, with an expected attendance exceeding 12,000 visitors.

The expo showcases the latest trends in recreational vehicles, including campers, caravans, and various outdoor products such as water sports and cycling gear. According to Veselin Valev, founder of Camping.BG, interest in camping tourism in Bulgaria is rising. He noted that the choice between a camper and a caravan depends on the desired trip style: campers are suited for mobility and short stops, while caravans are better for longer, stationary stays.

Valev also advised beginners to utilize regulated campgrounds, as these facilities offer amenities like showers and toilets, making the experience more comfortable than wild camping. While equipment costs vary widely, the industry offers alternatives like trailers for budget-conscious travelers. The event provides practical advice on topics such as converting vans into campervans, solar systems, and responsible travel.

Furthermore, the expo addresses infrastructure needs, highlighting that improving roads to campsites and attractions is crucial for the sector’s development. The 2026 expo emphasizes responsible camping through partnerships with environmental associations, offering educational activities focused on sustainable travel.
