The Camping & Caravaning Expo 2026 opened on Friday and will run through Sunday at the former Sofia Land park area. Organized by Camping.BG, this forum marks the 12th consecutive year, having debuted in 2018. This year, the event features 99 exhibitors representing Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, and Germany, and is anticipated to draw over 12,000 visitors.
The expo showcases the latest trends in recreational vehicles, including campers, caravans, and various camping, water sports, and cycling products. According to Camping.BG founder Veselin Valev, interest in camping tourism in Bulgaria is increasing. Valev noted that while equipment prices vary widely, ranging from EUR 100 to EUR 100,000 for campers, a trailer presents a budget-friendly alternative requiring towing by a car.
He advised that campers are better suited for mobile travel, while caravans are ideal for longer stays in one location. Organizers recommend that beginners start at regulated campgrounds, which offer amenities like showers and toilets, rather than attempting wild camping. Bulgaria currently has over 200 campsites, with the inland sites often boasting higher service levels, including modern thermal campgrounds.
The expo provides educational opportunities, including sessions on converting vans into campervans and sustainable travel. The event’s focus on responsible camping is highlighted through presentations covering diverse global travel experiences. Attendees can also participate in activities promoting ecological awareness.
The presence of numerous exhibitors ensures a comprehensive look at the sector, while the event’s overall program caters to both seasoned travelers and novices interested in caravaning and camping.
