The Camping & Caravaning Expo 2026 opened on Friday and will run through Sunday at the former Sofia Land park area. Organized by Camping.BG, this forum marks the 12th consecutive year of the event, first held in 2018. This year, the expo features 99 exhibitors representing Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, and Germany, and is projected to draw over 12,000 visitors.
The exhibition showcases the latest trends in campers, caravans, and recreational vehicles, alongside products for camping, water sports, cycling, and outdoor activities. According to Camping.BG founder Veselin Valev, interest in camping tourism in Bulgaria is increasing. Valev noted the wide price range for equipment, stating that while campers can start around EUR 50,000, costs can reach millions, while trailers offer a more budget-friendly alternative to a fully motorized camper.
He advised that campers suit mobile travel, whereas caravans are better for longer stays in one location. Organizers recommend beginners utilize regulated campgrounds, which offer amenities like showers and toilets, rather than attempting wild camping. While Bulgaria has over 200 campsites, Valev pointed out that improving infrastructure, including access roads, is crucial for the sector’s development and attracting foreign tourists.
The expo offers diverse programming, including sessions on transforming vans into campervans and solar systems. A key focus this year is responsible camping, in partnership with the For the Earth environmental association, featuring presentations on sustainable travel across various global destinations. The event provides practical advice and networking opportunities for enthusiasts interested in caravaning and camping.
