Bostandjiev Becomes New PFC Levski Sofia Owner

Bulgarian businessman Atanas Bostandjiev has assumed ownership of PFC Levski Sofia, taking over the majority shareholder position from Nasko Sirakov. Sirakov will continue in his role as club president but will relinquish his shareholding stake. Sirakov stated his departure as a shareholder followed efforts to stabilize the club during a critical period, emphasizing the need for leadership continuity for the future of the club.

Bostandjiev stated that his objective is to maintain Levski’s identity and independence while ensuring sustainable success both on the pitch and in club operations. He expressed satisfaction that Sirakov will remain in the presidency. A cornerstone of the club’s new strategy is the proposed Georgi Asparuhov Stadium project.

Levski and the architectural firm IPA unveiled the concept, estimating a total investment of EUR 120 million. The facility is designed to accommodate 24,718 spectators according to Bulgarian Football Union requirements and 23,032 under UEFA standards. Construction is slated to commence in spring 2027.

The stadium is planned as a multifunctional complex capable of hosting major events, including concerts for up to 40,000 people, alongside enhanced public areas. Atanas Bostandjiev brings significant financial experience to the role. He is the founder and CEO of Gemcorp Capital, established in 2014, which focuses on emerging markets.

Previously, he served as CEO of VTB Capital in the UK and held a partnership role at Goldman Sachs in London, where he co-headed the emerging markets business across Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
