The Cyprus-based folk formation Sovatchii is scheduled to participate in the 11th edition of the traveling festival Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance. The event will take place from May 15 to 17 at the BMW Park in Munich. According to the group’s artistic director, Teodosi Teodosiev, Sovatchii will present a performance as a chamber ensemble.
The routine will feature excerpts from ‘Dances from Southeast Bulgaria,’ which was choreographed by Todor Bekirski and set to music by Stefan Chapkanov, a piece noted for its strong stage presence and emotional depth. Sovatchii was established on October 1, 2015, by Teodosiev, who also directs the group artistically and choreographs its works. Over its operational history, the formation has become an active organizer of major annual festivals within Cyprus.
Its primary goal is to unite Bulgarian school and amateur ensembles, alongside musicians and singers spanning various age groups. The festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance, is organized for and by amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative originated with the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the inaugural 2015 edition and the tenth edition in 2025.
The 11th Munich event anticipates attendance from over 100 dance ensembles and more than 4,000 visitors. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) serves as the official media partner for the event and will feature all participating groups.
