Forces Convoys to Move Across National Road and Rail Network After Exercises

The Defence Ministry press centre announced that servicemen and military equipment belonging to Land Forces units will be transported across Bulgaria’s infrastructure between April 28 and April 30, 2026, following the completion of planned military exercises. On April 28 and 29, the movement will involve personnel and military assets returning from the tactical drill known as Defensive Shield 26, conducted by the 5th Brigade Command. These units will move from the Koren Training Area in Southern Bulgaria to the cities of Pleven, Shumen, and Sliven, utilizing both the national road and rail networks.

The final phase of transportation is scheduled for April 30. On this date, military convoys carrying personnel and equipment will travel along the national road network, departing from the Novo Selo Training Area located in Southeastern Bulgaria, following the conclusion of field training exercises. Throughout these movements, the military forces will maintain operational readiness.

To ensure security during the transit of equipment and personnel, the convoys will be accompanied and escorted by the Military Police Service. The planned transport across the road and rail systems underscores the logistical coordination required for large-scale military drills across the country’s infrastructure.
