Direct Investments in Bulgaria Exceed EUR 800 Mln in First Two Months of 2026, Says InvestBulgaria Agency Head

Foreign direct investments in Bulgaria surpassed EUR 800 million during the first two months of the current year. According to Angel Ivanov, acting Executive Director of the InvestBulgaria Agency, this figure represents nearly double the growth recorded in the same period last year, despite prevailing international complexities. The statement was made at the opening ceremony for the Investor of the Year 2025 awards, an event marking the 20th anniversary of the initiative and the 30th anniversary of the Agency’s establishment.

Ivanov noted that over several decades, Bulgaria has cultivated its reputation as a competitive investment destination. He cited improvements in investment quality and a rising number of projects generating significant added value as evidence. He stated that Bulgaria attracts investors through its institutional support, stable macroeconomic environment, and a tax system considered among the most favorable in the EU.

Furthermore, he emphasized the nation’s human capital as a critical competitive advantage. The Agency highlighted key priority sectors for investment, including manufacturing, information and communication technologies, research and development, and education. While welcoming all investments, he stressed that the government has defined priorities to foster a more competitive and innovative Bulgaria in the coming years.

Attendees were assured of the Agency’s continued support, as the success of investors is presented as synonymous with the success of Bulgaria. The Investor of the Year initiative recognizes companies and projects that contribute to the country’s economic development, job creation, innovation, and sustainable growth. The ceremony gathered prominent representatives from the business sector, state institutions, the diplomatic corps, and international partners.

During the event, President Iliana Iotova presented the InvestBulgaria Agency with the Honorary Badge of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria to commemorate its 30th year.
