Industries Bulgaria Receives Investor of the Year Award

BTL Industries Bulgaria was named Investor of the Year 2025 at the 20th annual awards ceremony organized by the InvestBulgaria Agency (IBA). During the event, Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova presented the award and the “Golden Bull” statuette to the company’s CEO, Veselin Karavasilev, at the Hyatt Regency Sofia. The recognition stemmed from BTL Industries Bulgaria’s EUR 51 million investment in Plovdiv in 2025, which reportedly generated over 700 jobs.

Since establishing operations in Bulgaria in 1998, the company has grown to become a major employer in the Plovdiv region with a workforce exceeding 850 employees. BTL Industries exports medical devices to over 120 countries across six continents. Karavasilev noted that the award acknowledged sustained commitment to Bulgaria, stating that the company has developed from a sales office into BTL’s sole global production base.

He added that annually, more than 40,000 devices are shipped from Bulgaria, suggesting the nation holds potential as a leading medical device manufacturer. Several other companies received accolades across various categories. Intuitive Surgical Bulgaria received the Greenfield Investment award for its EUR 42 million investment in Parvomay, creating over 170 jobs.

Nestle Bulgaria was recognized for its EUR 44.63 million investment in Sofia and 119 new jobs. Festo Bulgaria received the Innovative Business award for a EUR 40 million investment across three locations, generating 140 jobs.
