BTL Industries Bulgaria was named Investor of the Year 2025 at the 20th awards ceremony hosted by the InvestBulgaria Agency (IBA). During the official event at the Hyatt Regency Sofia hotel, Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova presented the award and the “Golden Bull” statuette to the company’s CEO, Veselin Karavasilev. The recognition was given for BTL Industries Bulgaria’s EUR 51 million investment in Plovdiv in 2025, which resulted in the creation of over 700 jobs.
Since establishing operations in Bulgaria in 1998, the company has grown significantly and maintains an R&D center in Sofia. With a workforce exceeding 850 employees, it is a major employer in the Plovdiv region. The company exports medical devices from Bulgaria to over 120 countries across six continents.
Karavasilev stated that the award acknowledges their sustained commitment to Bulgaria. He noted that the company has evolved from a sales office to BTL’s sole global production base, shipping more than 40,000 devices annually from the nation. He also suggested Bulgaria has potential to become a leading manufacturer in medical devices.
Other major recipients at the ceremony included Intuitive Surgical Bulgaria for its EUR 42 million investment in Parvomay, and Aero Technic BG for its EUR 15.85 million investment at Vasil Levski Airport. Nestle Bulgaria received recognition for its EUR 44.63 million investment in Sofia. Festo Bulgaria was awarded for its EUR 40 million investment across several locations.
The Investor of the Year initiative highlights companies and projects contributing to Bulgaria’s economic development, job creation, and innovation across various industries. The event also recognized several other entities for their contributions to the country’s investment environment.
