Stock Exchange Forum Looks at Role of Capital Markets for Economic Growth

The Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) hosted “The Investor Day 2026: Mind the Growth” forum on Wednesday, focusing on the implications of Bulgaria adopting the euro and the role of capital markets. The event gathered representatives from over 150 institutional investors, more than 400 participants, and foreign investors from countries including Austria, Germany, and France. Addressing the attendees, BSE CEO Manyu Moravenov expressed optimism regarding the country’s capital market and its growing economic influence.

Moravenov indicated that the BSE anticipates several initial public offerings (IPOs) later in the year. These listings will be supported by a new program financing listing costs for all BSE markets, alongside “IPO Growth,” an instrument co-created with institutional investors and pension funds that will serve as a key investor in most IPOs. He noted that in the first quarter of 2026, following Eurozone entry, the BSE saw a doubling of turnover in both value and deal volume compared to the prior year.

Moravenov highlighted the increasing global focus on Central and Eastern European potential as drivers of European growth. Finance Minister Georgi Klisurski stated that the accession to the euro zone sent a strong signal of security and attractiveness to the investment community. He plans to advocate in Brussels for accelerating the integration of capital markets to enhance their depth and size, while simultaneously defending the importance of national stock exchange systems.
