-Corruption Fund Investigation Points to Irregularities in Public Procurement Contracts at 4 Cultural Institutions

An investigation by the Anti-Corruption Fund (ACF) has identified potential irregularities concerning public procurement contracts totaling nearly EUR 5 million across four cultural institutions managed by the Culture Ministry. The funds were designated for renovations and architectural supervision at facilities including the Aleko Konstantinov State Satirical Theatre, the Drama Theatre in Lovech, the Small City Theatre Behind the Canal, and the National Educational Complex for Culture (NUKK) in Sofia. A legal expert from the ACF noted that a review of the tender procedures uncovered multiple violations of established procurement conditions.

The analysis revealed that in five of the eight contracts reviewed, the winning firms lacked the requisite experience, failing to demonstrate comparable project scope within the preceding five years.
