Vesela Lecheva, the President-elect of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee (BOC), visited Almaty, Kazakhstan, on Sunday, where she held meetings with local sports officials and Mayor Darkhan Satybaldy. Her schedule included a planned attendance at the Shotgun World Cup on Monday. Upon her arrival, Lecheva was formally welcomed by Mayor Satybaldy, Oleg Pochivalov, Secretary General of the Kazakhstan National Sports Shooting Federation, alongside several Olympic medalists and various sports dignitaries.
During her visit, she toured the recently constructed Olympic facilities, which are slated to host the 2029 Asian Winter Games. Commenting on the local development, Lecheva noted the significant commitment to athletic infrastructure within Kazakhstan. She stated that the host nation is making substantial investments in sports, noting that the facilities are nearly complete, even three years ahead of the Asian Games.
Furthermore, Lecheva acknowledged the country’s rich Olympic heritage, adding that Kazakhstan is prepared to share its successful methods across numerous athletic disciplines. The BOC President-elect was also a special guest at the opening ceremony for a sport climbing hall, which is part of the broader Olympic complex. Throughout her visit, Lecheva was accompanied by Alexander Ratner, President of the European Shooting Confederation.
