Bulgarian businessman Atanas Bostandjiev has acquired majority ownership of PFC Levski Sofia. Nasko Sirakov announced the change on Friday, confirming that while Sirakov will remain the club president, he will no longer hold shares. Sirakov stated his decision to step down as a shareholder followed a period of stabilizing the club, emphasizing the need for leadership continuity to secure Levski’s future.
Bostandjiev stated that his objective is to ensure the continued identity and independence of the club while fostering sustainable success both on the pitch and within club operations. He expressed satisfaction that Sirakov will continue in his role as president. A cornerstone of the new strategic plan for Levski involves the development of the Georgi Asparuhov Stadium.
Levski and the architectural firm IPA unveiled the concept, estimating a total investment of EUR 120 million. The facility is designed to meet Bulgarian Football Union standards with a capacity of 24,718, and UEFA standards with 23,032. Construction is scheduled to commence in spring 2027.
The stadium is envisioned as a multifunctional complex capable of hosting major events, including concerts for up to 40,000 people, alongside enhanced public park areas. Bostandjiev, founder and CEO of Gemcorp Capital since 2014, brings extensive financial experience. Prior to this, he served as CEO of VTB Capital in the UK and held a partnership role at Goldman Sachs in London, where he managed emerging markets across Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
