, Bulgaria, Amplifies Idea for Joint Political Project Among Reformist Parties

Days after the Yes, Bulgaria party proposed a coalition agreement involving Continue the Change (CC) and Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB), co-leader Bozhidar Bozhanov indicated that dialogue remains open with CC, emphasizing that “voters on our mind” guides their discussions. Speaking to bTV on Monday, Bozhanov noted that judicial reform is an area of complete agreement among the groups. While the three political parties have operated informally since February 2023, the current focus is on formalizing a comprehensive coalition agreement.

A potential long-term objective discussed is the possibility of the coalition members merging into a single political entity. In a separate interview on Monday, Yes, Bulgaria co-leader Ivaylo Mirchev stated that unification with DSB and CC is achievable, provided all involved parties reach an accord. Mirchev acknowledged the success of the informal coalition but suggested that voters are now seeking a more consolidated political project.

He stressed the necessity of establishing a common presidential candidate, adding confidence that their collective group would select a strong contender. The political maneuvering highlights the ongoing effort to unify the major political forces in Bulgaria. Mirchev also offered a commendation regarding the current caretaker Prime Minister, Andrey Gurov, describing him as potentially the most successful caretaker prime minister in the nation’s history.

The discussions center on solidifying a unified platform and presenting a cohesive front to the electorate.
