In contrast, the nomination put forward by Peter Petrov of Vazrazhdane received support from 12 MPs, while 175 voted against.
Addressing the assembly, Dotsova stated that the primary challenge facing Bulgaria is restoring best practices within the legislative process. She advocated for a system where lawmaking is predictable and grounded in debate, rather than being governed by mere procedural formalism. Dotsova emphasized that all legislation must incorporate impact assessments, arguing that decisions should be guided by long-term sustainability rather than short-term political considerations.
She stressed the necessity of strengthening the rule of law and ensuring the state operates lawfully and independently. Dotsova is 42 years old and holds a PhD in Administrative Law. Her professional background includes significant experience within government administration and the legislative sector.
Since 2017, she has been associated with the Ministry of Environment and Water, where she spent over seven years heading the Legal Directorate. Additionally, she has served as a lawyer at the National Assembly and the Sofia Regional Administration. As the top-of-the-list candidate for Progressive Bulgaria in Sofia’s 23rd multi-member constituency, Mihaela Dotsova brings extensive legal expertise to her role in the Bulgarian parliament.
