Bulgaria’s Regional Development Minister, Nikolay Naydenov, participated in the 17th ITS European Congress in Istanbul, according to the Ministry’s press center on Monday. The congress serves as a major forum for intelligent transport and smart mobility, gathering experts, researchers, and public authorities to present technological innovations and practical solutions. During the event, the minister held a working meeting with Omer Sayan, the Deputy Transport and Infrastructure Minister of Turkiye.
The discussions centered on strategies to improve infrastructure cooperation between Bulgaria and Turkiye. Both sides expressed a mutual commitment to deepening their partnership to boost transport capacity and connectivity along the north-south corridor, with specific mention of the Black Sea Motorway. Furthermore, Naydenov met with Mehmet Cahit Turhan, CEO of the company responsible for the Northern Marmara Motorway, which incorporates the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, one of the world’s tallest bridges.
The Turkish delegation indicated their willingness to share extensive experience in the construction and management of large-scale infrastructure projects. The meetings underscore ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral ties in the transportation sector, positioning both nations to collaborate on enhancing regional connectivity and modernizing critical transport networks.
