Election Commission: With 60.79% of Tally Sheets Processed, Progressive Bulgaria Leads with 44.6%, Second Is CC-DB with 14.3%

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has released interim results concerning the parliamentary election held on April 19. As of 6:00 AM on Monday, the commission reported preliminary figures based on the analysis of 60.79% of all submitted tally sheets. This announcement marks the procedural update following what is the eighth parliamentary election in Bulgaria since 2021.

The CEC operates under specific mandates detailed within the Election Code regarding the subsequent steps of the electoral process. Legally, the commission is required to announce the final vote counts and the subsequent distribution of parliamentary seats among participating parties and coalitions no later than four days following the election day. Furthermore, the identification and naming of all elected Members of Parliament must be finalized and published within seven days of the election date.

The release of these interim figures provides an initial overview of the electorate’s participation and the initial breakdown of votes. The ongoing process relies on the systematic collation and verification of the tally sheets across all polling stations to ensure the accuracy of the final declaration. The CEC’s role is central to maintaining transparency throughout this complex election administration.

Stakeholders and political parties await the final certification from the commission as the process moves toward its legal conclusion.
