Election Commission: With 68.34% of Tally Sheets Processed, Progressive Bulgaria Leads with 44.5%, Second Is CC-DB with 14.0%

The Central Election Commission (CEC) released preliminary results from the parliamentary election held on April 19. These initial figures are based on the processing of 68.34% of the tally sheets by the section election commissions, which were subsequently processed at the constituency election commissions as of 7 a.m. on Monday.

Under the established Election Code, the CEC is mandated to announce the total votes received and the distribution of seats among participating parties and coalitions no later than four days following the election day. Furthermore, the names of the elected Members of Parliament must be announced within seven days of the election. These polls represent the eighth parliamentary election in Bulgaria since 2021.

The preliminary nature of the announcement means that final results are still pending confirmation from the remaining tally sheets. The commission’s ongoing work is crucial for providing a complete picture of the electoral outcome. The process involves multiple levels of verification, starting from the section election commissions up to the central body.

This systematic processing of the tally sheets ensures adherence to the legal timeline set forth by the Election Code for declaring the final results of the election.
