The Central Election Commission (CEC) has released preliminary results concerning the parliamentary elections held on April 19. These initial figures are based on the processing of 87.23% of the tally sheets submitted by section election commissions to the constituency election commissions as of 9:00 AM on Monday. According to the Election Code, the CEC is mandated to announce the total votes received and the subsequent distribution of seats among participating parties and coalitions within four days following the election day.
Furthermore, the names of the elected Members of Parliament must be published no later than seven days after the election. These proceedings marked the eighth parliamentary election in Bulgaria since 2021. The preliminary nature of the announcement means that final figures are pending the processing of all remaining tally sheets.
The CEC’s ongoing work involves aggregating data from various levels of the election commission structure to provide a comprehensive overview of the electoral outcome. The transparency and methodical nature of the commission’s reporting are in line with established electoral procedures. The continuous update of results, based on the collation of tally sheets, aims to ensure that the final declaration of results is both accurate and timely, adhering strictly to the timelines set forth in the Election Code.
