The Chemshir Bulgarian Folklore Club, based in Armagh, Northern Ireland, is scheduled to participate in a special collaboration at the 11th Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance travelling festival. This event will take place in Munich from May 15 to 17. The performance will feature diverse participants from several nations, including Greece, Cyprus, the USA, and Northern Ireland.
According to dance group leader Plamena Chemshirova, the collaboration is significant as it represents a unifying display of Bulgarian dance culture globally. The group plans to present a Thracian dance originating from the Pazardzhik Region. This choreography narrates themes of romance, the strength of friendship, and the cultural significance of the Bulgarian horo, a dance form noted for connecting people through shared emotion.
The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance festival is dedicated to amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative was established by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which has hosted previous editions in 2015 and 2025. For the 11th edition in Munich, organizers anticipate participation from over 100 dance ensembles and an attendance of more than 4,000 guests.
The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) serves as the official media partner for the event and will cover all participating groups.
