Forces Convoys to Move Across National Road and Rail Network After Exercises

The Bulgarian Defence Ministry has announced that servicemen and military equipment belonging to Land Forces units will be transported across the national infrastructure between April 28 and April 30, 2026. This movement follows the completion of scheduled military exercises. On April 28 and 29, personnel and military assets returning from the tactical drill known as Defensive Shield 26, conducted by the 5th Brigade Command, will utilize the national transportation networks.

These assets will move from the Koren Training Area in Southern Bulgaria, traveling to the cities of Pleven, Shumen, and Sliven via a combination of road and rail infrastructure. The final phase of the movement is scheduled for April 30. On this date, military convoys, carrying personnel and equipment, will depart from the Novo Selo Training Area in Southeastern Bulgaria.

These forces will travel along the national road network following the conclusion of their field training exercises. Throughout the entire process, the movement of military assets will be secured by escorts from the Military Police Service. The Ministry confirmed that the planned transportation activities are routine logistical operations designed to manage the movement of substantial military resources after participation in large-scale training drills.
