Forces Convoys to Move Across National Road and Rail Network After Exercises

The Defence Ministry press centre announced on Monday that servicemen and military equipment belonging to Land Forces units will utilize Bulgaria’s transportation infrastructure between April 28 and April 30, 2026. This movement follows the conclusion of planned military exercises. On April 28 and 29, personnel and equipment returning from the “Defensive Shield 26” tactical drill, conducted by the 5th Brigade Command, will be transported.

The movement will originate from the Koren Training Area in Southern Bulgaria and proceed to the cities of Pleven, Shumen, and Sliven, utilizing both road and rail networks. The final day of movement, April 30, will involve military convoys carrying personnel and gear traveling along the national road network. These convoys will depart from the Novo Selo Training Area in Southeastern Bulgaria, concluding the field training exercises.

Throughout these movements, the convoys will be escorted by the Military Police Service to ensure security. The planned transport utilizes the established national road and rail systems, facilitating the redeployment of the military forces following their participation in the scheduled exercises.
