BTL Industries Bulgaria was named Investor of the Year 2025 at the 20th InvestBulgaria Agency (IBA) awards ceremony. During the official event at the Hyatt Regency Sofia hotel, Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova presented the award and the “Golden Bull” statuette to the company’s CEO, Veselin Karavasilev. The recognition was given for a 2025 investment of EUR 51 million in Plovdiv, which reportedly generated over 700 jobs.
Since establishing operations in Bulgaria in 1998, BTL Industries has grown into a significant employer in the Plovdiv region, boasting a team of over 850 employees. The company operates a research and development center in Sofia and exports medical devices to more than 120 countries across six continents. Karavasilev noted that the award recognized sustained commitment to Bulgaria, noting that the company has become BTL’s sole production base worldwide.
He stated that over 40,000 devices are shipped annually from Bulgaria, suggesting the country holds potential as a leading manufacturer of medical devices. Other major awards were presented across various sectors. Intuitive Surgical Bulgaria received the Greenfield Investment award for its EUR 42 million investment in Parvomay, creating over 170 jobs.
Aero Technic BG won the Human Capital award for a EUR 15.85 million investment in Sofia, generating 125 new roles. Nestle Bulgaria received the Business Expansion Investment award for its EUR 44.63 million investment in Sofia, supporting 119 jobs. Festo Bulgaria was honored with the Innovative Business award for a EUR 40 million investment across three locations, creating 140 jobs.
The Investor of the Year initiative highlights contributions to Bulgaria’s economic development, job creation, and innovation within various industries. The ceremony also recognized other contributors, including Varna Food Factor and Teklas Bulgaria for regional development, and the Stara Zagora Municipality for investments.
