President Iliana Iotova is scheduled to visit Yerevan to participate in the 8th summit of the European Political Community on May 3 and 4. The forum, themed “Building the Future: Unity and Stability in Europe,” is expected to convene nearly 50 heads of state and government. Notably, Canada will participate for the first time as a non-European guest, represented by Prime Minister Mark Carney.
On Sunday, May 3, President Iotova’s agenda includes meetings with Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. During her visit, Iotova will also visit the 131st Peyo Yavorov Primary School in Yerevan, an institution noted for its study of Bulgarian folklore. The following day, May 4, the focus shifts to critical infrastructure and energy policy.
President Iotova will participate in a high-level event addressing the impact of the Vertical Gas Corridor, a strategic initiative designed to enhance energy security and diversify natural gas supplies across Southeastern, Eastern, and Central Europe. Within the broader scope of the summit, Iotova will also take part in an event concerning the “European Coalition Against Drugs.”
During the proceedings, Iotova’s address is slated to focus specifically on transport and energy connectivity within Europe. Furthermore, on the sidelines of the political forum, she will meet with Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas.
These engagements underscore the depth of the political discussions surrounding cohesion and stability across the continent.
