Bulgarian weightlifter Karlos Nasar secured his fourth European title at the European Championships held in Batumi. Competing in the men’s 94 kg weight class, Nasar achieved a total of 386 kg to claim the gold medal. Nasar established an early lead in the snatch portion of the competition with a lift of 176 kg, followed by a 210 kg clean and jerk.
His performances in both disciplines contributed to a dominant overall victory. In the snatch, Nasar successfully lifted 176 kg on his opening attempt, after initially attempting 170 kg. Although he attempted a world record lift of 183 kg on his final attempt, he was unsuccessful.
During the clean and jerk, Nasar’s initial 210 kg lift was not validated by the judges following a review; however, he successfully repeated the weight on his second attempt. For his final lift, Nasar targeted a world record total by attempting 223 kg, which he was unable to complete. The medal standings for the event saw Ara Aganyan of Armenia finish in second place with a total of 381 kg.
