Bulgarian weightlifter Karlos Nasar secured his fourth European title at the European Championships held in Batumi. Competing in the men’s 94 kg weight class, Nasar achieved a total weight of 386 kg to claim the gold medal. Nasar’s performance was marked by strong showings in both the snatch and the clean and jerk.
In the snatch, he established an early lead with a lift of 176 kg, confirming his dominance in the discipline. He further secured the gold medal in the snatch with a successful lift of 176 kg after initially opening at 170 kg. Although Nasar attempted a world record lift of 183 kg on his final snatch attempt, he was unsuccessful.
In the clean and jerk, Nasar’s initial lift of 210 kg was not validated by the judges after a review, but he successfully repeated the weight on his second attempt. For his final clean and jerk lift, he attempted 223 kg, which he was unable to complete. The competition saw Armenia’s Ara Aganyan finish in second place with a total of 381 kg, and France’s Romain Imadouchene take the bronze medal with a total of 370 kg.
This victory marks a significant achievement for Nasar, cementing his status as a top competitor at the European level, marking his fourth such title.
