The Bulgarian Defence Ministry announced that military personnel and equipment belonging to Land Forces units will undergo transport along the nation’s infrastructure between April 28 and April 30, 2026. These movements follow scheduled exercises designed to test the operational readiness of the armed forces. On April 28 and 29, 2026, the initial phase of transport will see personnel and military equipment returning from the tactical drill known as Defensive Shield 26, conducted by the 5th Brigade Command.
These returning forces will move from the Koren Training Area, situated in Southern Bulgaria, to the cities of Pleven, Shumen, and Sliven. The logistical movement will utilize both established road networks and rail infrastructure. The final day of planned movements, April 30, 2026, will involve military convoys carrying personnel and materiel.
These convoys will traverse the national road network originating from the Novo Selo Training Area in Southeastern Bulgaria, following the completion of field training exercises. Throughout both days of movement, the logistical operations will be supported by escorts from the Military Police Service, ensuring the security and orderly passage of all military assets. The planned exercises are part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to maintain and enhance the mobility and readiness of the Bulgarian military units across its territory.
