Bulgarian weightlifter Karlos Nasar secured his fourth European title at the European Championships held in Batumi. Competing in the men’s 94 kg weight class, Nasar achieved a total of 386 kg to claim the gold medal. Nasar established an early lead in the snatch with a lift of 176 kg, followed by a clean and jerk lift of 210 kg.
These performances contributed to his commanding overall victory. In the snatch discipline, Nasar confirmed his gold medal status with a successful lift of 176 kg after initially opening at 170 kg. He subsequently attempted a world record lift of 183 kg but did not successfully complete it.
During the clean and jerk, Nasar’s initial lift of 210 kg was invalidated by the judges upon review; however, he successfully lifted the same weight on his second attempt. For his final lift, Nasar aimed for a world record total by attempting 223 kg, an attempt which was unsuccessful. The competition saw Ara Aganyan of Armenia finish in second place with a total of 381 kg, and Romain Imadouchene of France secured the bronze medal with 370 kg.
The victory marks a significant achievement for Nasar at the European level.
