Navy Specialized Teams Inspect, Transport Drone Debris Found along Black Sea Coast

Specialized teams operating from the Bulgarian Navy bases in Varna and Burgas conducted inspections and recovered items of drone debris near Karadere and Ahtopol on Sunday, according to the Defence Ministry. During an inspection in the northern area of Karadere, situated between Byala and Goritsa, personnel examined debris identified as originating from a drone. Authorities confirmed that the material contained no explosives and posed no danger, leading the specialized team to transport it to the Varna naval base.

Subsequently, a team from the Burgas base was deployed to Ahtopol, located on the southern Black Sea coast. Here, service members located a fragment of a drone, which was assessed and confirmed to be non-threatening before being transported to the Burgas base. These actions were undertaken at the request of the regional administrations of Varna and Burgas, following authorization from the Chief of Defence.

The Navy Commander ordered the activation of specialized units responsible for the reconnaissance, marking, extraction, and transportation of unexploded ordnance. The operational scope includes prior discoveries; on April 23, teams at the Burgas base also found an air defence missile engine and a drone. Both items were assessed as non-hazardous and subsequently taken to the base.

The recovery efforts underscore the ongoing vigilance of the Bulgarian Navy in securing coastal areas.
